The Occupied Palestinian Territories
Popped into The West Bank in a bullet proof bus from Israel for a couple of days whilst on my travels in the Middle East. Pleased to hear that a few years after my visit The Old Town of Hebron was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO ( in 2017). Controversy ensued by Israeli officials when the World Heritage Committee declared it a Palestinian World Heritage Site instead of an Israeli or Jewish one. There's some fascinating street art on display (including a few Banksy pieces). The high military presence meant I felt generally pretty safe - there were checkpoints on most street corners.
This was one of those times when you realise the world is actually quite a small place - ended up bumping into one of my university tutors at the bus stop in Jerusalem!
