With the world feeling like a bit of a powerful play these days, I took the opportunity to escape into The Forest of Dean to channel a bit of my inner child and step into the magical setting of Puzzlewood, a film set in its own right.
The deep rooted nature and otherworldly atmosphere of this forest has formed the stage for films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Jack the Giant Slayer and most recently the upcoming remake of The Secret Garden.
It is unsurprising to me that the Forest of Dean was a huge inspiration for J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle Earth books and JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
You can easily spend a couple of hours walking through the forest immersed in the atmosphere here. It is an extremely popular spot for keen photographers and family day outs alike - the children all seemed in their absolute element and it is easy to understand why.
